There’s been some wonderful press on “City of Style” lately. In addition to the great hits following the launch party at 3.1 Phillip Lim a few weeks ago, Extra ran some fun coverage as well as Style.com and Glamour.com.

Seeing Red

Red lipstick will never grow old for me. It’s a powerful beauty staple able to flawlessly transform any outfit from a day at the office to a night on the town. Immortalized thanks to the old Hollywood glamour of Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball and Elizabeth Taylor, red lipstick is a necessary tool to keep in your makeup arsenal. Finding the right shade can prove tricky, but fortunately this Fall MAC Cosmetics is coming to the rescue with their Marilyn Monroe limited-edition collection. Inspired by the blonde bombshell, MAC’s 30-piece line will include eyeshadows, eyeliner, nail polishes and retro lipsticks. “Her look not only defined a generation but also is relevant today,” MAC Senior VP James Gager said to the Hollywood Reporter. I agree, especially after seeing Angelina Jolie, Rooney Mara and Milla Jovovich sporting the crimson color at this year’s Oscars. Well done, red. Well done.

Everyday Icon: Gwen Stefani’s “Luxurious” Look

Original Orange County gal Gwen Stefani has proved herself to be a veritable fashion force over the years through her clothing collections, red carpet moments and music videos; however, no look stands out to to us more than the singer’s iconic chola-inspired 2005 video “Luxurious.” The heavy black eyeliner, dark red penciled pout, unforgettable manicure and gobbles of gold jewelry brought just the right amount of glamour to this sometimes overlooked style.

Did I mention that the wonderful and beautiful Amber Valletta wrote the foreword to the book? Besides being one of my favorite supermodels of all time, she’s on one of TV’s hottest shows, “Revenge” !
